In the north-east of Ethiopia is a volcanic up-welling called Dallol.

New Zealand's Rotorua once had the Pink and White Cascades, which rivalled this, and they were even acknowledged as one of the natural wonders on the world. But they were buried by the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886.
